Full question: I’ve got a sign at my house that says “A lovely lady lives here with a grumpy old man” – and I’m the grumpy old man. And I’m really really disappointed in the council of a certain tree. Now I’ve been on and on about this tree for the last 3 years. It’s affected 800 houses in this town, especially up where I live on Princess Street. And this tree has shed branches. It’s a Norfolk pine. Norfolk pines don’t shed leaves, they shed branches. 800 houses up our way have been affected with $240,000 going through their house. My insurance claims have been over $30,000. There’s a man just up the road from me, poor man, the first bill was $30,000, the second bill was $30,000. I’ve also been threatened by my insurance company that I’ve got to do something, so this is why I’m bleating and moaning, and in letters to council which I’ve kept, and there was a feature in the paper, about this Norfolk pine, at Norfolk Lodge. Now these branches are actually hanging out over the footpath. Tony Bedford, credit to him, has had the footpath repaired, because it’s wrecking the footpath. My question – this tree is a protected tree. Why are not council doing something to help protect the people who this have been affected by? Thank you, I’m a grumpy old man.
