Max Brough overlooking New Plymouth

Max Brough 1 for mayor.

You should not have to afford years of double-digit rate increases just because somebody else decides it. New Plymouth needs strong, knowledgeable leadership. I will right the ship and set a platform for future growth. As a successful business owner, I instinctively understand opportunity, risk and reward. My record this term as a Councillor demonstrates my ability to bring change. Council needs to look after your money, then everything else falls into place.

What is The Mayor's Office?

Located at 168 Devon Street East in New Plymouth’s CBD, The Mayor’s Office is a place where anyone can pop in for a chat with Max Brough during his mayoral campaign. It’s open to anyone, whether you have questions, concerns, ideas or just want to chat.

In this video tour I explain the concept and show you around some of the info that’s in there. There’s also a Taranaki Daily News article from Glenn McLean, who popped in unannounced to see what “The Mayor’s Office” is all about.

Beyond the campaign.

More than just a building, The Mayor’s Office represents Max Brough’s commitment to a more open and transparent council, where every resident is welcome to have their say and be heard. If elected, it will become a permanent fixture in the CBD, at no cost to the ratepayer.

It’ll be staffed every weekday morning by the mayor and/or deputy mayor(s), ready to meet and chat with anyone who comes in.

Online engagement.

There will also be a digital counterpart in the form of a website and mobile app, where anyone can submit their questions, concerns or ideas, and other community members can upvote submissions that are most important to them.

A screen inside The Mayor’s Office will show a live feed of the top submissions, which Max will address in a weekly video series. It’s just one part of improving council community engagement.

Ask Max anything.

If you have any questions, concerns, or just want a chat – feel free to pop in at 168 Devon Street East. If I’m elected mayor, the concept will continue, as part of my commitment to leading the most open and transparent council we’ve ever seen. If you can’t make it in, send me your questions and I’ll answer them in my weekly “Ask Max Anything” video series. Each question and answer will also be posted to the Questions section of this website. Here are some of the most recent:
